Agreement Summary
What to expect;
At McLaughlin Hypnotherapy, I want you to feel safe, informed, and supported from the very beginning. To make sure we start with clarity, every client signs a Client Agreement at their first session. This is a detailed document that sets out how we will work together.
Below is a brief summary so you know what to expect. Please note that the full agreement is more detailed, and I’ll always be happy to go through it with you before you sign.
My commitment to you
I provide a safe, confidential, and professional space where you can explore your experiences without judgment.
I work with honesty, integrity, and respect, drawing on my training and experience to support your wellbeing.
I follow professional codes of ethics and maintain appropriate boundaries at all times.
Your role in therapy
Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process. Your openness and active participation are key to meaningful change.
We will work together on building new patterns of thought and behaviour, with respect and compassion guiding every step.
While hypnotherapy is powerful, it is a complementary therapy and not a replacement for medical or psychiatric care.
Practicalities
Sessions last 60 minutes and usually take place weekly.
Payment is required at or before each session.
At least 48 hours’ notice is needed for cancellations, otherwise the session fee will be charged.
Progress is reviewed regularly, and either of us may decide to end therapy with appropriate discussion.
Confidentiality
What we discuss in sessions is private, except in rare circumstances where I have a legal or professional duty of care to act (e.g., risk of serious harm).
I may discuss anonymised material with a clinical supervisor to ensure best practice, but your identity is always protected.
This summary is for transparency only. The full Client Agreement is a physical document that you will review and sign before starting therapy.
